Tour Overview
We start our tour in Yangshuo town at the Bike Asia shop, with a complimentary coffee or tea, where you'll meet your guide for the day. We'll go over the route for the day and set you up on the bikes. We'll head out of town and in suprisingly quick time we'll be cycling on small paths and backroads amongst the karst mountains and paddy fields. Our route takes us along the Yulong River valley passing by several small villages where you can soak up local village life and views of the bamboo lined river - this is some of the more spectacular scenery in the region.
We'll stop for a local lunch nearby Dragon Bridge, a four hundred year old arch bridge, that spans the Yulong river. After a wander around the village, we'll head up to our start point for the rafting. Here you'll leave the rafts behind and be poled down the river on two person traditional bamboo rafts by a local farmer - he may regale you with a local song or two! After approximately an hour on the rafts, you'll be met by your guide and the bikes for a leisurely ride back into Yangshuo town via several small villages and scenic paths. The ride ends at the Bike Asia shop in Yangshuo.
Start & Finish Point
We would normally reccomend starting all our Yangshuo local tours at the Bike Asia Shop in Yangshuo town centre. This way we can fit you out with bikes that suit you, particualrly if you have children, or are unsure of what size or type of bike you prefer. If you are happy for us to choose bikes for you, and it is more convenient, we can start and finish the tour at your hotel. An added transfer fee is is applicable to have the bikes sent to your hotel. Just let us know your preference when you book or chat to us about what the options are.

How difficult is cycling on the tour?
Not difficult at all - it's one of our easiest! We've designed it to take in all the quiet flat roads in the area and, as it is a private tour, we can take a route that suits you too whether you want to make it longer, shorter or even add in some hills!
-
Can we start and finish the tour from our hotel?
You can. Just let us know where you are staying and we'll design a route around your location. We do like to make sure you have the right bikes to suit your heights so make sure you let us know how tall (or short) you are so we can bring them along to your hotel.
-
Is lunch included?
Yes. We include a great local lunch at Dragon Bridge Village. Just let your guide know if you have any particular dietary requirements.
-
Is the tour suitable for children?
Yes, although for the Bamboo Rafting kids are treated as adults and must be in the care of one parent. It is two persons per raft, so a family of three (including one small child) will need two rafts - kids sitting on laps is allowed but only will one parent aboard. Costs for kids is the same as adults.
We reccommend kids be 5 years and above. We have kids bikes and tag-a-longs to cater for youngsters on the bike segment.
-
Is there any traffic on the cycling tour?
Very little. We will take you on routes that avoid traffic. In the event we do encounter some we'll give you fair warning and our guides are trained to safely navigate you through the day. You might have to keep an eye out for the odd water buffalo chickens or ducks though!
-
Do I need to bring water?
No. We supply a clean water bottle on the bikes (you can bring your own if you like) and will keep you topped up throughout the day.
-
What happens if it rains?
Generally, unless the rain is severe, we'll run the tour anyway. We have ponchos available and a light rain jacket is enough for comfort. During the operational months for this tour the rain is not cold. However, if the rain is severe and it is not feasible to run the tour we will cancel it. There are times when downpours are extreme that the bamboo boats mat be canceled due to rising water levels. In cases where we need to cancel due to circumstances out of our control, such as river closures or extreme downpours, we will offer a full refund.
-
Can we change the itinerary or customise the tour?
Not for publicly listed dates, but if you have your own group or date in mind, Yes. If you want to make a private booking we can help design a tour that suits you. You may have ideas based on any of our tours or something in mind that you can't find on our website. Just get in contact with us and let us know what you have in mind and we'll try our best to make it happen!
-
Do you cater for vegetarians?
